Spotsylvania Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Stafford: Police
Two people were taken into custody after they were accused of beating a man with a bat and a gun in Stafford County last week, police said.
STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — Two people are in custody after an assault in Stafford County last week. Authorities said a man and a teen beat a victim with a baseball bat and a gun on Town Square Circle.
The victim suffered serious injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
Police identified the adult suspect as 37-year-old Hakim Worrell. Worrell is charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, aggravated malicious wounding, display of a firearm in commission of a felony, weapon possession by a felon, and attempted second degree murder. He is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

If convicted of all charges, Worrell could spend the rest of his life in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.
A teenager was also detained this week in connection with the assault. Authorities have not announced any charges for the teenager.

The assault occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 30. The victim called authorities and told them he was dying after being attacked on Town Square Circle, according to the police report.
A deputy provided first aid as they waited for an ambulance to arrive. Medics took the victim to the hospital where medical personnel said his injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
The victim said multiple men broke into his home, assaulted him with a bat and a gun, and left. Detectives identified Worrell, a Spotsylvania resident, as a suspect.
On Dec. 1, detectives performed a search at Worrell's house alongside members of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office SWAT team. Worrell was taken into custody.
