Spotsylvania Man Charged With Additional Child Exploitation Counts

SPOTSYLVANIA, VA — A Spotsylvania County man is facing additional felony child exploitation charges after investigators examining electronic devices seized during a June search warrant allegedly found additional child sexual abuse material, according to the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office.

Detectives with the sheriff's office Child Victims Unit executed a search warrant June 16 at a home in the 300 block of Pool Drive as part of an investigation into child exploitation offenses. During the search, investigators seized multiple electronic devices for forensic examination. A separate search warrant executed the same day also led to the recovery of suspected narcotics, authorities said.

Connor Faitak, 32, of Spotsylvania, was arrested at the scene and initially charged with reproduction of child pornography and possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance. He was taken to the Rappahannock Regional Jail, where he was held without bond.

Additional Charges Filed Following Digital Evidence Review

After obtaining a search warrant authorizing a forensic examination of the seized electronic devices, investigators said they found additional images depicting child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

As a result of the continuing investigation, detectives charged Faitak on July 9 with four additional counts of possession of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography. He remains incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

The charges are allegations, and Faitak is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Court records show Faitak's initial charges remain pending in Spotsylvania County courts. He is scheduled for preliminary hearings on Aug. 26 in both Spotsylvania General District Court and Spotsylvania Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. The hearings will cover the original felony drug possession charge, one count of reproduction of child pornography and the five additional child pornography charges filed in July.

The Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office said it works with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) to identify victims depicted in evidence recovered during CSAM investigations.

According to the sheriff's office, investigations involving child sexual abuse material increased by nearly 125 percent between 2024 and 2025. In response, the agency added another detective during the most recent budget cycle to strengthen its Internet Crimes Against Children investigative capabilities.

Sheriff: Investigations Continue To Increase

The sheriff's office is a member of the NOVA-DC Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, a Virginia State Police-led partnership of local, state and federal agencies that investigates online child exploitation and works with NCMEC to identify victims and investigate the online sharing of child sexual abuse material.
