Spotsylvania Police Detain Person Of Interest In Fatal Shooting
Joshua Yezierski, 25, was found with multiple gunshot wounds at the Orchard Ridge at Jackson Village apartments and died at the scene.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA – A person whom police consider a person of interest is in custody following a fatal shooting of a 25-year-old Spotsylvania man at the Orchard Ridge at Jackson Village apartment complex early Saturday morning, Spotsylvania County police said.
Police have identified the victim as Joshua Yezierski, who was found with multiple gunshot wounds at 4:17 a.m. in the 4900 block of Orchard Ridge Drive at the Orchard Ridge at Jackson Village apartment complex where firefighters were responding to a fire alarm, police said in a news release Saturday evening.
While emergency personnel were being notified of the alarm, additional reports came in of a shooting in the same apartment complex. Deputies arrived and the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said

Despite life saving measures, Yezierski died at the scene. Police said that a shooter was quickly identified and stayed on scene until the arrival of police. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office are investigating a series of events that led up to the shooting to include the fire alarm activation, police said.
No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation is ongoing pending the autopsy by the Chief Medical Examiner and consultation with the Commonwealth’s Attorney Office.
