Spotsylvania Sheriff's Lieutenant Selected For Prestigious National Leadership Program

A Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office lieutenant has begun a 10-week leadership program offered by UVA and Virginia State Police.

SPOTSYLVANIA, VA — A Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office lieutenant has been selected to attend a nationally recognized leadership program for law enforcement professionals.

Lt. Edward Griffith began the 10-week National Criminal Justice Command College on Monday, according to the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office.

The program is a partnership between the University of Virginia and the Virginia State Police and is designed for mid- to upper-level law enforcement leaders from across the country. Participants receive training focused on leadership, innovation and collaboration while exploring strategies to address emerging public safety challenges.

Upon completing the program, graduates earn either an undergraduate or graduate certificate from the University of Virginia, depending on their coursework, along with 15 academic credits.

Griffith has served with the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office for 15 years and has worked in a variety of assignments during his career. He currently serves in the Criminal Investigations Division.

According to the sheriff's office, Griffith's selection reflects his commitment to professional development and marks another milestone in his law enforcement career.

The sheriff's office said it continues to invest in advanced leadership and specialized training opportunities for employees as part of its efforts to strengthen the agency and prepare personnel to meet the community's evolving public safety needs.
