SPOTSYLVANIA, VA — Students at Spotsylvania High School returned to class Monday after three seniors were killed in a late-night crash during spring break, according to reports.

Counselors and support staff were on campus as students mourned Antonio Rubsam, 18, Kyle Derby, 17, and Dylan Stanley, 17, FOX 5 DC reported.

"As we prepare to return to school on Monday ... our community carries a mix of emotions," said a post on the school's website. "While there is comfort in being together again, there is also a deep sense of loss as we remember three of our seniors who were an important part of our Spotsylvania High School family. Each of them made a lasting impact on our school and in our lives, and they will not be forgotten."

Investigators believe speed likely contributed to the crash, but the case remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit, according to authorities.

A memorial of flowers, photos and handwritten messages has grown near the crash site, while school leaders urged parents to check in with their children and give them space to talk, according to Fox5 DC. The school district said counseling services will remain available as the community grieves and memorial service details are finalized.
