Spotsylvania Woman, 70, Struck, Killed By SUV On Saturday Night

Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating a fatal crash involving a 70-year-old pedestrian.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A 70-year-old Spotsylvania woman died Saturday night after being struck by an SUV as she was crossing a street located south of Fredericksburg.

Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s deputies responded around 9:15 p.m. for the report of a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in the area of Tidewater Trail and Glendas Way.

Investigators determined that Wanda Vernell Norbrey was crossing Tidewater Trail when she was struck by a 2018 GMC SUV that was traveling northbound on the road, according to reports. When deputies arrived, they immediately began administering life-saving measures, but Norbey succumbed to her injuries.

Although the area had a crosswalk, the sheriff office’s Accident Reconstruction Team is trying to determine if the crosswalk sign was blinking at the time Norbrey was crossing the road.
