St. Patrick's Day 2017: Couch Potato '0.5K' Saturday in Fredericksburg

This isn't your Runner's World 5K. It's not even a 5K. But it is a crazy "kind-of" race that's expected to attract, ah, creative entrants.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — So what, exactly, is a Couch Potato Run? After all, a couch potato generally is thought of as a person who would much prefer kicking back on the sofa and watching whatever as opposed to, you know, running.

Well, this is a 5K that's not a 5K, if that helps.

It's a "0.5K" put on by Adventure Brewing Company-South, 3300 Dill Smith Drive, and it's being held 9-11 a.m. Saturday to benefit area fire and rescue units.

The following description provided by organizers pretty much says it all about the anything-goes affair:

"Superhero costumes, technicolor tutus, painted faces, pimped out wagons and strollers, and green on your EVERYTHING is highly encouraged! Prizes will be awarded for fastest time, best individual costume, and best group theme."
