Stafford Carpenter Wins Big in Virginia Lottery

While on a lunch break at the Wawa at 275 Butler Road in Fredericksburg, he decided to buy a few Virginia Lottery tickets. One was a charm.

STAFFORD, VA — A carpenter working on a roofing project recently took a lunch break and went to the Wawa at 275 Butler Road in Fredericksburg and decided to buy a few lottery tickets, one of which was worth nearly a half million dollars.

"It's numbing," the Stafford man told lottery officials. "I'm still trying to wake up."

His winner was a "20 Years of Cash" top prize ticket. Bennett could've taken a lump sum of $492,919 before taxes but chose the option of $2,500 per month for 20 years.

Bennett beat the odds of 1 in 2,080,800.
