At 10 a.m. on Wednesday, a Stafford County deputy said he tried to stop a car for a traffic violation. The driver refused to stop and threw a bag out of the window into the McDonald's parking lot, according to the police report. Authorities said the driver made two laps around the restaurant before turning onto Staffordboro Boulevard.
Police said the driver reached 70 miles per hour before turning into Sunnydale Meadows. After turning into the neighborhood, the suspect abandoned the car and ran away.
A police K-9 tracked the suspect to the back of one of the townhomes, according to the police report. Deputies determined that the man lived in a townhome in the 300 block of Wimbledon Court.
Deputies convinced him to leave the home and took the suspect, who they identified as Lambert, into custody. During a search of the bag thrown from the car window and the home, deputies found 16 firearms, approximately 10 pounds of marijuana, over 1,000 fentanyl pills, four bottles of codeine, and over $20,000 in cash.
