Stafford Drive Thru Coronavirus Testing Site Now Open
Stafford residents who are in need of a new coronavirus test can now get one – by appointment only – at Stafford Hospital.
STAFFORD COUNTY, VA – Stafford County residents who are in need of a new coronavirus test can now get one – by appointment only – at Mary Washington Healthcare's Stafford Hospital location.
As of Tuesday morning, there are 95 cases of the new coronavirus in Stafford, 56 in Spotsylvania, 16 in King George and 14 in Fredericksburg, according to Stafford County officials. There are 6,171 confirmed cases in Virginia and 154 deaths.
Decisions for testing are made by primary care doctors or urgent care providers. If patients meet the criteria for testing, the doctor or provider will place an order for a COVID-19 test. COVID-19 is the disease caused by the coronavirus.

Mary Washington Healthcare currently offers drive thru testing by appointment only at its Fredericksburg location, and intends to begin drive thru testing at its King George location on April 16.
Health care officials note that not everyone needs to be tested for COVID-19. Most people will experience a mild illness and can recover at home without being tested. There is no approved treatment for the virus, so those with mild cases are encouraged to stay home, away from others, and rest.
