Stafford Homicide Suspect Arrested In Richmond: Police
A man wanted in connection with a fatal Stafford shooting was arrested in Richmond over the weekend, the county sheriff's office said.
STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — Darren Newman, the primary suspect in a Stafford County shooting, was arrested in Richmond on Saturday, authorities announced.
On Dec. 30, a 33-year-old man from King George was fatally shot in Stafford, the county sheriff's office said.
Newman was wanted on charges of second degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held without bond at the Richmond Jail.

If convicted, Newman could face up to 48 years in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.
The shooting occurred around 12:15 a.m. on Dec. 30 in the 100 block of Deacon Road. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found the victim suffering from several gunshot wounds, authorities said. They took him to an area hospital where he later died.

Investigators later identified Newman as a suspect in the shooting.
"Thank you to members of the public for their tips and our law enforcement partners throughout the region to take this dangerous suspect off the street," the Stafford County Sheriff's Office wrote on Facebook.
