Stafford Man Accused Of Raping Child, 10, Arrested In Peru
Geronimo Johnny Neyra, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Peru, faces 12 counts of aggravated sexual acts against a child, authorities said.
STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A Stafford County man accused of raping a 10-year-old child is facing multiple charges after he was arrested in Peru, according to federal authorities.
Geronimo Johnny Neyra, a 70-year-old naturalized U.S. citizen from Peru, was arrested in Lima on 12 counts of aggravated sexual acts against a child, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Authorities said the Stafford County Sheriff's Department was made aware of the allegations against Neyra on July 6. The following day, authorities said Neyra boarded a flight bound for Peru.

With assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Customs located Neyra's flight and Peruvian police took him into custody when he landed in Lima, authorities said.
"The immediate international arrest of this fleeing fugitive is an example of incredibly quick-thinking and resourceful law enforcement officers," U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said in a statement. "CBP's border security mission allows us to ensure that victims have a voice and that fugitives will have their day in court."

Neyra is awaiting extradition to Stafford County, authorities said.
