Stafford Man Charged In 1989 Murder Of Arlington County Woman

A Stafford man already in prison for killing a former girlfriend was charged this week in the 30-year-old death of Marta Haydee Rodriguez.

STAFFORD, VA — A man already serving a prison sentence for killing his former girlfriend is now being charged with the 30-year-old disappearance and murder of his former wife. The charges stem from the 1989 disappearance of Marta Haydee Rodriguez of Arlington County.

Jose Angel Rodriguez–Cruz, 54, was indicted this month by a Stafford grand jury on charges of first-degree murder and concealment of a dead body, the Free Lance-Star reports. He currently is serving time in a West Virginia correctional facility for the 1991 death of Pamela Butler, who was 47 when she was killed at her home in Washington.

Rodriguez–Cruz is accused of killing Rodriguez and dumping her body in the median of Interstate 95 about a mile north of the Courthouse Road exit. According to the report, Rodriguez was 28 when she was killed and her body was discovered was Civil War relics hunters.
