Stafford Man Wins $1 Million From VA Lottery During Coffee Break
A man from Stafford County won $1 million after he decided to play the Virginia Lottery's Dominion Dollars scratcher on a coffee break.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA —A Stafford man won $1 million from the Virginia Lottery during his coffee break last month.
The man, Francisco Sanchez, purchased his winning lottery ticket when he stopped to get coffee at the Wawa on Garrisonville Road in Stafford. While he was there, he decided to play the Dominion Dollars scratcher.
He scratched the ticket in his car and learned that he'd won $1 million, the game's top prize. Sanchez decided to take his winnings in a one-time cash payment of $625,000 after taxes.

Sanchez's ticket was one of three top prizes in the Dominion Dollars game. Two more winning tickets are still unclaimed, lottery officials said.
The chances of winning the top prize are 1 in 1,060,800. The chances of winning any prize in the Dominion Dollars game are 1 in 3.06.

In Virginia, proceeds from the lottery support education efforts throughout the state. Last fiscal year, Stafford County received $15.9 million from the lottery.
