The Stafford County Sheriff's Office is investigating the Aug. 22 accident involving a single vehicle driven by a Fredericksburg man.
STAFFORD, VA — The Stafford County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a single-vehicle crash that happened Thursday after a tractor trailer driven by a Fredericksburg man went into the ditch, causing downed power lines and a fuel spill. The crash happened at about 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Cambridge Street and Layhill Road.
Witnesses waiting at a red light on southbound Cambridge Street reported seeing a tractor trailer driven by 41-year-old Lance Swanson of Fredericksburg approach the intersection before driving off the road into the right-side ditch.
The crash caused Cambridge Street to close for several hours to allow tow trucks to remove the tractor trailer from the ditch and first responders to investigate the accident. In addition, emergency crews spent several hours cleaning up the fuel spill, police said.
