Stafford Woman Ran From Cops, Says It Was On Her Bucket List: Police

A 30-year-old Stafford woman was arrested after fleeing from police. She told deputies the chase was on her bucket list, authorities said.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A Stafford woman led deputies on a chase on Wednesday, the county sheriff's office said in a report. The woman later told deputies that running from the cops was on her bucket list, authorities claimed.

No injuries were reported in the chase.

The sheriff's office has not identified the woman by name, but noted that she is 30 years old. She is charged with eluding police, reckless driving, and driving without a license.

The chase began around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on northbound Richmond Highway. A Stafford County deputy said he was stopped at a red light at the intersection with Centreport Boulevard.

"As soon as the light turned green the vehicle next to him, a silver Chrysler 300, accelerated at a high rate of speed, and began traveling 77 mph in a 55 mph zone," the sheriff's office wrote on Facebook.

The driver of the Chrysler turned on their hazard lights and slowed down, but authorities said they did not stop "despite numerous opportunities to do so."

"At the red light at the intersection of Eskimo Hill Road, the driver signaled they were about to pull over, but instead when the light turned green continued straight on," the police report said.

Another deputy joined the chase, and the Chrysler eventually pulled into the Stafford Hospital parking lot. One deputy pulled in front of the Chrysler, while the other stayed behind to keep the car from fleeing.

"The driver was discovered to not be licensed, and did not take the situation seriously. She would joke that 'running from the cops' was on her 'bucket list,'" the sheriff's office said. "The joke would end when she realized there are consequences for one’s actions."

The woman now faces criminal charges and her vehicle was impounded.
