Stafford's Top Administrator To Retire In July

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — Stafford County's top administrative official announced Friday his plans to retire from his position on July 1. Tom Foley, who oversees the day-to-day operations of the county's government, has served as county administrator for the past two years.
The Stafford Board of Supervisors plans to begin a search immediately for Foley's replacement. Foley's decision to provide a six-month notice should provide ample time for the board to find his replacement, the board said Jan. 3 in a news release.
Prior to getting hired in Stafford, Foley served as county executive in Albemarle County for about six years and assistant county executive for two years. He also served as county administrator in Caroline County and was Cumberland County's first chief administrative officer.

During his time with the County, Foley managed the implementation of the county board's first strategic plan for Stafford County and saw the county through receiving a Triple-AAA bond rating status.
"Stafford is one of the fastest-growing counties in Virginia facing several complex challenges, and Tom has met those challenges head-on ensuring that Stafford is a dynamic, adaptable organization benefiting citizens with careful use of taxpayer dollars," Stafford Board of Supervisors Chairman Gary Snellings said in a statement.

Foley was born in Boston but grew up in Dale City.
