STEM- Critical Skills and Summer Fun

It has been studied and proven that STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) is important for all students. The younger they are introduced to STEM concepts the more likely they will choose a career in it. There are often middle and high school programs and clubs for STEM but often, the student’s interest in the matter is set long before that. A child's feelings towards STEM and related careers are usually set by 4th grade.

According to Benjamin Bathke of Deseret News, “Every child, no matter a career path, is going to need a fundamental level of technological competence.” He goes on to say that a student’s opinion towards STEM is formed by late elementary school. We provide a wide variety of such programs to find something that calls to each and every student we teach.

Sylvan offers a variety of classes and camps to get students active in STEM. LEGO Robotics, K'NEX and LEGO Engineering, Tynker Coding, Math and Algebra Edge classes are some of the many choices of our programs. We also understand that it can be challenging to lock down a summer schedule due to numerous events so we are offer a new option this summer: STEM Lab.

This is a drop-in class that will be offered on Fridays in July and August (beginning July 8th) to let your child explore our STEM programs. They can choose between the various classes and explore at their own pace with an expert teacher there to guide and teach STEM terms along the way! Cost for the class is just $10 each week and students can attend when convenient and as often as they would like.
