Suspect Behind String Of Stafford Burglaries Arrested: Police

The Stafford County Sheriff's Office arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with the series of residential burglaries.

STAFFORD, VA — The Stafford County Sheriff's Office arrested a suspect Saturday in connection with a string of residential burglaries in the Staffordboro Commuter Lot area after a homeowner caught the suspect breaking into his home.

Officials arrested Danis Antonio Calix-Garcia, 28, of Stafford, on numerous charges including breaking and entering, attempted grand larceny, tampering with a vehicle, petit larceny, and vandalism.

According to officials, members of the Special Problems Unit responded to reports of a suspect breaking into a residence on the 120 block of Doc Stone Road just before 9:30 p.m. Nov. 9. Upon arrival, one of the homeowners said her husband had apprehended the suspect in the front yard.

The suspect, later identified as Calix-Garcia, was taken into custody. Air fresheners were found in the suspect’s pockets, officials said, which deputies determined were stolen from the homeowner’s vehicle.

The homeowners told deputies they were watching a movie when they heard a sound outside
near the back of their home. The husband went outside to investigate and found some missing
items near the garage. He then saw the suspect and told him to stop, officials said.

When Calix-Garcia attempted to flee, the homeowner grabbed him and was able to hold him to the ground until deputies arrived, officials said.

According to the sheriff's report, detectives determined the suspect was behind nine other recent burglaries in the area. Calix-Garcia was incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
