Suspect Surrenders After Barricading Himself In Fredericksburg Home: Police

A Chesterfield man who was wanted on several warrants surrendered to police in Fredericksburg on Sunday after barricading himself in a home.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A man who barricaded himself in a Fredericksburg home surrendered to police on Sunday, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department. Authorities said he was wanted on warrants from Chesterfield County and Hanover County.

The police department did not report any injuries during the barricade situation.

Police identified the man as Roy Curtis White, a 44-year-old man from Chesterfield. Authorities in Fredericksburg have not announced what charges he faces in the city. However, court records show he was wanted for a felony probation violation in Hanover County.

The incident began around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday in the 1400 block of Preserve Lane in Fredericksburg, according to the police report. 911 operators in Fredericksburg received information about a wanted man, who they later identified as White, who was at the home on Preserve Lane.

When police officers arrived at the home, they saw White outside and tried to talk to him. White avoided the officers and ran inside, police said.

Authorities set up a perimeter around the house and called in the department's Crisis Negotiation Team, the Special Equipment Tactical Team, and an unmanned aircraft system.

Crisis negotiators tried to speak with White, but they were unsuccessful, according to the police report. Officers then used a drone to clear the home and sent in a police K-9 along with the tactical team.

White then surrendered to police around 7:45 p.m. In a news release published on Sunday night, the police department said charges were pending.
