Suspects Broke Into Home, Started Shooting In Spotsylvania: Police

Authorities are working to identify the suspects who shot a man at a home in Spotsylvania on Wednesday evening.

SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — Somebody forced their way into a Spotsylvania home and shot a man on Wednesday evening, the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office said.

The victim, a 39-year-old man, was treated at a local hospital and released.

Authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the shooting. Investigators are still working to identify the suspects .

No suspect description was available on Friday.

The shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday at a home in the 300 block of Southgate Avenue. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the lower body.

"Upon further investigation and witness interviews, it was determined that unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the residence and immediately began shooting at the victim," the sheriff's office said. "Other family members in the residence were unharmed."
