Teen Arrested After Leading Police On A Chase In Stafford: Authorities

An 18-year-old driving a minivan was arrested after fleeing from police in Stafford with four children in his vehicle, authorities said.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A teenager driving a minivan led deputies on a chase through Stafford County on Saturday night, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said in a report.

No injuries were reported in the chase, which ended when the teen finally decided to pull over.

Authorities identified the suspect as 18-year-old Grant Egan. Egan is charged with felony eluding, reckless driving, underage possession of alcohol and four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Egan is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

The chase began around 7 p.m. on Saturday evening, the sheriff's office said. A deputy reported that they saw a minivan speeding westbound on Vulcan Quarry Road. The minivan's driver turned off its lights after passing the deputy, according to the police report.

The minivan did not pull over after the deputy turned on his lights and sirens, authorities said. The chase continued onto Ripley Road, through the Apple Grove neighborhood, and back onto westbound Garrisonville Road. The driver eventually stopped on Joshua Drive, according to the sheriff's office.

During the stop, deputies identified the driver as Egan. They also learned that there were four children in the minivan with him. The children were released to their parents.

"When you see the flashing blue lights, slow down and pull over," the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook. "Do not turn a traffic infraction into a felony arrest."
