Teen Shot In Leg Near Spotsylvania Pool: Police

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg near an apartment building and a pool in Spotsylvania County on Tuesday, authorities said.

SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — A 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg near a Spotsylvania County pool and apartment building on Tuesday afternoon, the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office said.

The boy, who police have not identified by name, is receiving treatment at an area hospital. Authorities were not able to provide any updates about his condition.

Investigators are still looking for two male suspects who were involved in the shooting. The sheriff's office has not identified them by name or provided any physical description of the suspects.

The shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the 5700 block of Knightsbridge Court. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. They provided first aid and took him to a hospital, the police report said.

Witnesses said they saw two people get into a Chrysler sedan after the shooting and drive away after shooting the victim, authorities reported.

Deputies searched the area for the red or maroon sedan, but they could not locate it on Tuesday.

On Wednesday morning, the school resource officer at Massaponax High School found a car matching the description in the parking lot.

"Detectives responded to the school, working with school administration to interview the driver of the vehicle," the sheriff's office said. "This is currently an ongoing investigation."
