Tire Store Employee Shot Man In Self-Defense, Police Say

An employee at Tires and Wheels Unlimited shot a man who pulled out a gun and started shooting during an argument at the shop, police said.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A gunfight broke out at the Tires and Wheels Unlimited store on Warrenton Road on Monday morning, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. Authorities said a man and an employee pulled out their handguns and started shooting after an argument.

The man, Timothy Greenage, suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach. Greenage was treated at the hospital for his injuries.

After an investigation, deputies determined that Greenage started the dispute and the employee shot him in self-defense.

Around 11:45 a.m. on Monday, Greenage went to the Tires and Wheels Unlimited store because the facility charged his niece for extra parts, according to the sheriff's office. An employee at the store claimed that Greenage threatened them before he arrived.

When he got to the store, Greenage began to argue with an employee, according to the police report. Authorities said Greenage pushed an employee and pulled out a handgun to threaten them.

The employee then fired their own gun and hit Greenage in the abdomen. Greenage fired several shots but did not hit anyone, police said.

Greenage ran towards a deputy as he bled from his stomach. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, authorities said.

The employee who shot Greenage stayed at the scene after the shooting, the sheriff's office said. After talking to witnesses, deputies determined that Greenage initiated the fight and the employee acted in self-defense.
