Trump and Carson Lead in Virginia: UMW Survey

Hillary Clinton has a solid lead in Democratic Primary. And no hometown advantage for Jim Gilmore among GOP voters.

The latest presidential primary survey in Virginia mirrors national polls. Outsiders Ben Carson and Donald Trump are leading all challengers in the GOP field, while Hillary Clinton holds a commanding lead among Democratic voters.

Sponsored by the University of Mary Washington’s Center for Leadership and Media Studies, the survey of registered voters asked voter interest in the candidates from both primary fields.

Among Republican-leaning voters, Carson led with 27 percent support, with Trump at 25 percent. Sen. Marco Rubio had 11 percent.
