UMW Soccer Falls to Bridgewater, 2-1
Eagles fall to 1-1 on the season and will host Randolph Macon Wednesday at 4 p.m.
To call to mind the famous idiom, you can't win them all. After a confident 3-1 win over Greensboro College on Saturday, the University of Mary Washington Men's Soccer squad took its first loss of the season Sunday, dropping a 2-1 decision to Bridgewater College.
In stark contrast to yesterday's home opener, the second game of Jason Kilby's tenure as head coach went far less according to plan.
Despite UMW's 6-2 advantage in corners, it was the other Eagles, namely the visitors from Bridgewater, who generated the early offense. Bridgewater scored the first two goals of the game, and took a shutout into the final five minutes of the match.

The home team wouldn't go home empty however, as UMW created some late offense, rallying for a late goal in the 87th minute. Sophomore midfielder Jake Doyle managed to find the back of the net on an assist from junior Matt Alter.
The Eagles' final, frantic attempts for an equalizer were turned away, and the final gun signified the first blemish on UMW's 2011 campaign.
UMW (1-1) will host Randolph-Macon College Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
