Underage Possession Of A Firearm Charge Filed Against Stafford Teen

FREDERICKSBURG, VA- A 17-year-old from Stafford is facing multiple charges, including underage possession of a firearm, after he tried to flee from a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon near a Fredericksburg motel.

Sgt. B.U. Demirci of the Stafford County Sheriff's Office was in the area of Warrenton Road and Solomon Drive around 6:16 p.m., when he spotted a Chevy displaying a license plate that was suppose to be on a demolished Dodge.

After conducting a traffic stop at the Red Roof Inn at 386 Warrenton Road, Demirci noticed one of the Chevy's occupants was trying to conceal something. The prompted Demirci to request help, which brought additional deputies to the scene, according to the sheriff's office.

When questioned about what he was hiding in the car, the 17-year-old from Stafford said it was a bottle of Bud Light. When the teen tried to flee on foot, the deputies detained him and searched a crossbody bag he was wearing, according to the sheriff's office. The deputies found a credit card that was later determined to be stolen and a firearm.

Sheriff's deputies took the 17-year-old to juvenile Intake and filed criminal complaints for underage possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, obstruction of justice, credit card theft, and underage possession of alcohol, according to the sheriff's office. The teen was then held at the Juvenile Detention Center.
