University of Mary Washington scores 100 percent on PETA’s Vegan Report Card

The University of Mary Washington receives a 100 percent student satisfaction rating based on PETA's annual Vegan Report Card.

The University of Mary Washington receives a 100 percent student satisfaction rating based on PETA’s annual Vegan Report Card.

Over the past three years of this PETA project, vegan food has exploded in popularity on college campuses nationwide, and this year is no different. Since 2013, the number of schools graded an A has more than doubled and the number of schools given a B grade has more than tripled.

PETA assessed and graded submissions and dining-hall menus at thousands of colleges and universities across the nation and found that the University of Mary Washington meets and exceeds in the following categories:

· Offers at least one vegan entrée at every meal

· Offers nondairy milk

· Labels vegan entrées

· Labels vegan desserts

· Includes a vegan member on its student advisory board

· Promotes vegan options

· Offers an all-vegan station

In addressing the dining team, Executive Chef Andreas Ortner said, “We got a 100 percent satisfaction report from our Vegan community. All your hard work is reflected in this result. Let's keep it up and start brain storming some fresh, new ideas.”
