A belch by Kimberly Winter of Virginia came in at an ear-splitting 107.3 decibels. That's louder than a lawn mower and some motorcycles.

SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — A Spotsylvania County woman recently belched her way into the records books by achieving the world's loudest burp by a female.

Kimberly Winter, 33, of Spotsylvania Courthouse, broke the 14-year-old record by letting out a belch that was 107.3 decibels loud, Guinness World Records announced last week.

For reference, that's louder than a blender, an electric handheld drill, a lawn mower or leaf blower, and even some motorcycles at full throttle.

The previous record for the loudest burp came in at 107 decibels, achieved by Elisa Cagnoni of Italy in 2009, according to Guinness. The male record is held by Neville Sharp of Australia, who let out a 112.7-decibel burp in 2021.

To achieve the record, Winter was required to burp in a "dead room," like the ones used in sound-recording studios to eliminate reflected sound. Winter visited DC101 in Maryland, where she attempted to break the record live on "Elliott in the Morning."

Before entering the studio, Winter primed her body by stopping at Dunkin' for an iced coffee and a sausage, egg, and cheese croissant, she told The Washington Post. She also bought a Coors Light to drink in the studio.

After three failed attempts, Winter made history, beating the old record by just 0.3 decibels.

"I can be so much louder than that — that was nothing," Winter told the Post. "I'm really excited that I beat it, but I'm even more excited to break the record again."

And she's not kidding. Fair warning: You might want to turn the volume down or don't watch this at work.

Winter is no stranger to her unique talent, which has gained her more than 5,000 followers on TikTok. She fulfills her fans' burp-related requests in her videos, including "closed-mouth burps," "big monster burps," and burping people's names.

She also enjoys surprising strangers with her burps to see their reactions, she told Guinness.

"That is just magic to me," she said. "I love to see their face."

Despite her online fans, Winter's burps aren't always appreciated in public, she said. Her parents begged her to burp more quietly when she was a child. While bar-hopping for a bachelorette party in Ocean City, Maryland, Winter burped after sipping a beer, she told the Post.

After the belch, a bartender gave her the tab and asked her to leave.

"I love to be loud and proud," she said.
