With almost 130 children competing, organizers say that this was the largest soap box derby held in Fredericksburg in the event's 14 year history. 128 kids raced in three divisions, stock, superstock and masters. Spirits were high among competitors, despite the blistering sun, which may have kept some spectators away. Several race officials noted that the crowds this year were smaller, and suggested the hot weather plus a number of regional high school graduations on Saturday may have affected the spectator turnout. Here are the results and rankings for the top 16 finishers in the stock and superstock classes, as well as the top four finishers in the masters class.
