Virginia First Lady Attending Stafford School Grand Opening

STAFFORD, VA — Virginia First Lady Pamela Northam will be on hand this afternoon to celebrate the grand opening of the North Star Early Childhood Education Center in Stafford. A ribbon cutting and open house planned at 5 p.m. tonight will mark the opening of the facility located at 101 Shepherds Way.

To create the North Star Early Childhood Education Center, Stafford County Public Schools combined programs for Head Start, Early Head Start, the Virginia Preschool Initiative and Early Childhood Special Education to unify educational opportunities for students from birth to five years old.

The North Star facility has 12 Early Childhood Special Education classrooms and nine Head Start/Early Head Start/VPI classrooms. Together with the Rising Star campus in South Stafford, the two schools will educate more than 700 children.

Superintendent Dr. Scott Kizner and other school officials also will provide brief remarks at tonight’s event to commemorate the school’s opening.
