Virginia Lottery $1M Winner Is Fredericksburg Woman
A Fredericksburg woman won $1 million in a Virginia Lottery scratch-off game, with the ticket bought in Spotsylvania.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — First there was the numbing realization. Then the paralyzing elation. So it went for Fredericksburg's Deborah Edwards when she scratched her 20X the Money Virginia Lottery ticket and saw she had just won $1 million.
"I just kind of sat there for 45 minutes," she told lottery officials. "I couldn’t believe it. I still don’t believe it!" Instead of getting the entire sum over 30 years, Edwards chose the cash option of $657,030 before taxes. Her odds of having the winning ticket were 1 in 1,162,800.
She bought the winning ticket at Wawa, 3402 Shannon Park Drive in Spotsylvania County, which received a $10,000 bonus. Edwards is the second person to claim the game's top prize. Two more remain unclaimed.
