Virginia Lottery Winner: Stafford Man Pockets $250K

A Stafford man won $250,000 in a Virginia Lottery scratch-off game ticket he bought in Fredericksburg.

STAFFORD, VA — After winning a quarter-million bucks last week with a Virginia Lottery scratch-off ticket, Richard Tajalle, Jr., of Stafford, certainly wouldn't have raised any eyebrows had he decided to splurge on a splashy new car. After all, he's a car parts salesman who presumably has a keen interest in vehicles.

Instead, though, he told lottery officials he plans to use the booty to pay off loans and set up savings accounts for his three kids. Tajalle bought the winning ticket in the "$250,000 CASH" game at Mountain View Market, 1259 Mountain View Road in Fredericksburg. His odds of winning were 1 in 1,836,000. Three top prizes remain unclaimed.
