VRE Announces Train Station Opening in Spotsylvania

First trains and ribbon cutting planned. Rider details here.

The VRE has announced the opening of the Spotsylvania Station on the Fredericksburg Line.

The new stop will open on Nov. 16, 2015, with the first train leaving the station at 4:57 a.m.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 16.

Located southwest of U.S. 17 and Crossroads Parkway, the new station will be the terminus for VRE train service on the Fredericksburg line. This is the commuter rail service’s first extension since it launched in 1992.

Trains will be operating on the existing schedule, with the new Spotsylvania stop eight minutes before the Fredericksburg Station.

Later this year, a new train and schedule will be added to the Fredericksburg line, according to the VRE.
