VRE's Santa Train Rides On Sale Nov. 24: Ticket Information

Forget sitting on Santa’s lap, take a train ride with him and Mrs. Claus this holiday season. Operation Lifesaver brings back it’s popular holiday program, Santa Train.

Kids and their parents will have an opportunity to ride Virginia Railway Express (VRE) trains and meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will also be riding the train on Saturday Dec. 13. Santa’s helpers will hand out candy canes and coloring books and high school choral groups will sing holiday songs.

Tickets for the event will go on sale Nov. 24 at 9 a.m. and can be bought either online or at VRE stations in Fredericksburg, Manassas, Woodbridge and Burke. Tickets cost $6 online and $5 at the station.

No more than 6 tickets can be bought per person and all people, regardless of age, must have a Santa Train ticket to board. All proceeds benefit Operation Lifesaver, which educates people about dangers around trains and the importance of rail safety.

The event is also an opportunity to help families in need during the holidays. Operation Lifesaver has paired with the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Campaign to help Virginia’s less fortunate. Those attending the Santa Train event are encouraged to bring a toy to donate to Toys for Tots. The VRE stations in Manassas, Fredericksburg, Woodbridge and Burke will only be drop-off centers during Santa Train on Dec. 13.

• Fredericksburg tickets will be sold at Fredericksburg Visitors Center 706 Caroline Street, Fredericksburg VA.
• Manassas tickets will be sold at Manassas Visitors Center 9431 West Street (Manassas VRE Depot), Manassas VA.
• Burke Centre tickets will be sold at Supervisor John Cook’s Office located at 9002 Burke Lake Road, Burke VA.
• Woodbridge tickets will be sold at the Coffee Club Cafe at Woodbridge VRE Station, 1040 Express Way, Woodbridge VA.
