Walker-Grant Middle Schoolers Turn to High Schoolers

The smiles on their faces and the proud parents in the bleachers of the Walker-Grant Middle School gymnasium said it all:  they did it!   

There were 216 middle school students who graduated from eighth-grade today. The one-hour event honored their accomplishment with remarks from SCA President David Hough, Principal Melanie Kay-Wyatt, School Board member Jannan Holmes, Superintendent David Melton, and a welcome for next year from James Monroe High School Principal John Gordon. 

Achievement awards and recognition were given to the following students:

Nia Allen Memorial Award: Caleb Shank

Principal’s Award: Khari Jones, Quinn Evans

Incentive Award: Momal Juda, Trey’Shawn Lewis

Citizenship Award: Maggie Stoffel, Hunter Stephens

Study Skills Award: Caterah Mayfield

GT Superior Artist Student: Matthew Baker

GT English Luke Romero, Catesby Willis

Advanced English Savannah Brown

Science: Noah Holmes Foster, Edward Hoffman

World Geography: Margo Snipe, John Leahy

Math 8: Tarah Stanley, Lai Kwan Ching

Algebra: Alexandria Kuster

Advanced Geometry: Allison Slominski
