Wanted Man Arrested After Providing False Identity To Court: Police

A man who was wanted in Stafford County was arrested after he swore into court on a fake identity and tried to escape, police said.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A wanted man was taken into custody after providing a false identity when he appeared in court last week, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said. Authorities claimed the man ran away from deputies after leaving the courthouse during a hearing.

The sheriff's office identified the man as 31-year-old Eric Holloman. In addition to previous charges, Holloman is also charged with contempt of court, perjury, and fleeing law enforcement. He is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

The incident occurred at the Stafford County courthouse around 9 a.m. on Thursday.

"Holloman was wanted out of Texas and was supposed to self-surrender before reporting back to General District Court," the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said in a report. "A man who identified himself as 'the executor' was there to speak on Holloman’s behalf."

The prosecutor believed that the alleged executor was actually Holloman. The prosecutor shared their belief with the judge, according to the police report.

The executor insisted that he was not Holloman as he swore into court. The judge ordered Holloman's arrest because he was not present in the court, authorities said.

"After hearing this information, the unknown executor coincidentally left rather abruptly," the sheriff's office said.

A deputy in the courthouse tried to identify the executor, who was trying to leave the courthouse. When confronted, the executor started to run out of the building, authorities said.

A pair of deputies eventually caught the fleeing executor and took him into custody. Authorities then confirmed that the executor was Holloman.
