Weather Alert Issued for Spotsylvania County

Spotsylvania County is under a hazardous weather outlook that includes much of northern Virginia as well as the Maryland portion of the Chesapeake Bay, according to the National Weather Service.

From the National Weather Service report:

Scattered thunderstorms are possible Thursday afternoon and evening. A few thunderstorms may become severe with locally damaging wind gusts and large hail being the primary threat.

Heavy rain may continue into late Saturday and Sunday as the remnants of Tropical Storm Bill pass through the mid-Atlantic. Flash floods are possible during this time, the Weather Service says.

Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 91. West wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Thursday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 91. Light west wind increasing to 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday night: Isolated showers and thunderstorms, then scattered showers after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Light and variable wind becoming northeast around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: Scattered showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 85. Northeast wind around 6 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Saturday night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 93. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
