Winning Powerball Ticket Worth $100,000 Sold At Fredericksburg 7-Eleven

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A 7-Eleven in Fredericksburg sold a winning Powerball ticket worth $100,000. Terence Nevins, who bought the winning ticket, had his original $50,000 prize doubled thanks to the lottery's Power Play option.

Nevins had originally stopped at the 7-Eleven on Lee Hill School Road to pick up a loaf of bread on his way home from work. He left the store with a ticket worth $100,000, though lottery officials didn't say if he remembered the loaf of bread as well.

"Is this real, or am I looking at this wrong?” Nevins said he thought to himself.

The winning numbers were 1-2-24-50-57, and the Powerball number was 26. Nevins matched the first four numbers in a Powerball drawing and matched the Powerball number.

Nevins used Easy Pick, which allowed a computer to randomly select numbers for him. He spent an extra dollar on a Power Play, which doubled his prize.

"I first kept it to myself," he told lottery officials as he claimed his prize. "I called my sister, and I told her. She was screaming on the phone."

The odds of matching all six numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. The overall odds of winning any Powerball prize are 1 in 25. Drawings are held at 11:59 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
