SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — Two men saved a woman from a burning car after a crash in Spotsylvania County earlier this month. The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office officially recognized the men for their bravery this week.

The crash occurred on Sunday, Sept. 10 on Brock Road. Authorities said a woman lost control of her vehicle, drove off the road, and hit several trees.

Then, the car started to catch fire. That's when witnesses Ulysses Hernandez Aragon and Nathanial Ragland sprung into action.

"The driver was unconscious and both men sprung into action," the sheriff's office said. "They cut the driver's seat belt and pulled her out of the burning vehicle."

The flames had already started to spread from the engine compartment toward the interior of the car. Other witnesses said the flames completely engulfed the car just after they pulled the driver out.
