Around 11:30 p.m., a deputy spotted a suspicious red Ford pickup parked in back of the lot, and then saw two males and a female in the front seat. He asked why they were there, and a man said they were in a argument. The woman was crying, shaking and appeared scared, so the deputy asked her if she needed assistance. She didn't respond.
That's when he told the driver, Corder, to open the door and let the woman out. While escorting her toward his patrol car, she said, "Help me. Get me out of here. They have a gun." The cop then pushed her behind his patrol car for safety and pulled his gun while ordering the men to show their hands. As he got closer, he saw amother man, Tate, lying in the back seat area.

Corder told him there was a gun in the door pocket. After securing it, he ordered McGinniss out of the truck and told him to lie on the ground. Instead, he got out, hesitated and then took off running before quickly being subdued. Corder and Tate were arrested without incident.
An investigation found that Corder picked her up at a nearby motel and then pulled into an adjoining lot where McGinnis and Tate jumped into the truck. One of them reportedly put a gun to the woman's head and accused her of stealing from him. They then drove to the commuter lot. Two guns were recovered from the truck.
