UPDATE: Police Arrest Two Men In Shooting Of Girl At Playground
The victim was transported to a hospital in Richmond where she underwent surgery.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The Fredericksburg Police Department arrested two men Monday night in connection with a shooting that left a girl injured near a playground in the Wellington Woods Apartment Complex on Lafayette Boulevard. The victim was transported to a hospital in Richmond where she underwent surgery and is expected to make a full recovery, according to the police department.
At 6:40 p.m. on Dec. 23, the police department received a report from a nearby hospital that a juvenile female had been shot. Family members had taken the girl to the hospital.
Fredericksburg patrol officers immediately responded and detectives launched an investigation. K-9 officers from the Virginia State Police and Game and Inland Fisheries also assisted the Fredericksburg police in the investigation.

Terrell Carter, 18, of Fredericksburg was arrested on charges of attempted murder in the second degree and malicious wounding, while Apollo Machail Jenkins, 19, of Fredericksburg was arrested on charges of obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact to commit malicious wounding. Both suspects are being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
Police recovered BB and pellet guns from one of the suspect’s apartments, the police department said.
