Woman Suffers Knife Wound In Fredericksburg Incident: Police

The suspect, a Fredericksburg resident, is facing charges of strangulation, assault and battery, and malicious wounding.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A woman suffered knife wounds early Wednesday morning in the 1000 block of Heritage Park Drive, the Fredericksburg Police Department said Thursday.

At 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, patrol officers responded to an apartment for a reported stabbing. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a woman with "superficial wounds" from a knife, the police department said.

The police identified Lemar Dawson, 40, of Fredericksburg as a suspect in the case. Dawson is known to the victim, the police said.

Shortly after the incident, the suspect was located by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and taken into police custody. Dawson is facing charges of strangulation, assault and battery, and malicious wounding. He is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
