Woman Found Dead In Stafford Co. Ditch Identified: Police

The Stafford County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death, which was reported in the early morning hours of Sunday.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — The Stafford County Sheriff's Office has identified the woman found dead in a North Stafford ditch early Sunday morning. Officials said the body of Ashley Nicole Childs, 28, of Stafford County, was found by a concerned citizen just before 6 a.m. Sunday.

Childs' cause of death is still under investigation by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The Sheriff’s Office is requesting anyone with information on the incident to contact Detective Massine at 540-658-4400.

Deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff's Office are investigating a suspicious death Sunday after a 911 caller reported finding a woman's body in a ditch, according to a report.

Deputies responded to the area of Whispering Pines Lane and Shelton Shop Road after someone reported finding the body just before 6 a.m. The victim was described as a white woman in her late 20s or early 30s, and investigators said there appeared to be no sign of trauma to her body.
