Woodbridge Armed Robbery Fails After Victim Flags Down Motorist

A 32-year-old man reported an attempted armed robbery on Emberdale Drive in Woodbridge Wednesday evening.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A 32-year-old man reported an attempted armed robbery in the 14800 block of Emberdale Drive in Woodbridge Wednesday evening, according to the Prince William County Police Department. The man was approached by an unknown man who asked for money. When the victim declined, the suspect brandished a handgun and demanded money again from the victim.

During the incident, the victim flagged down a passing motorist who briefly stopped. The suspect then fled on foot after the motorist stopped and was joined by another unknown male who was watching the robbery occur from the other side of Emberdale Drive.

Police officers responded to the incident at 6:32 p.m. on Jan. 8. No injuries were reported and no property was taken. Officers and a police K-9 searched the area for the suspects who were not located.

The suspect is a black male, about five-feet, 10-inches tall, with a skinny build, short hair and a scrappy beard. He was last seen wearing all block clothing. The man who was watching the robbery is described as a black male, approximately five-feet, 10-inches tall, with a skinny build and wearing all black clothing, according to police.
