WOODBRIDGE, VA — A Woodbridge woman earned some extra Christmas cash when she won $272,806 from the Virginia Lottery's online "$crooge" game.

The woman, Cindy Red, told lottery officials that she does not have any big immediate plans for her winnings. She does plan to pay bills with her prize money.

The $crooge game features a progressive jackpot for online players. The odds of winning any prize in the game area 1 in 3.86.

Profits from the Virginia Lottery are used to support the state's public schools. In fiscal year 2023, the Prince William County school system received $57.4 million from the Virginia Lottery.
