Zombie Walk 2016 Saturday in Fredericksburg

Put on by the Mean Mommies Club of Fredericksburg, it's downtown from 2-5 p.m. and is open to zombies of all ages.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Halloween may be kaput for the year, but the Mean Mommies Club of Fredericksburg is keeping the ghoulish theme alive this weekend in downtown.

It's the 6th Annual Zombie Walk, and it goes Saturday from 2-5 p.m., beginning at Hurkamp Park, 500 William Street.

Open to participants of all ages, from preschoolers to to parents to those just looking to have a funky afternoon with the after-dead.

The walk is free but folks are strongly encouraged to bring canned goods, paper goods and anything that doesn't have a relatively fast-approaching expiration date, as the walk is done both for fun and to help area charities.

Awards will be given in a variety of categories, such as best zombie under 10, best parent zombies, and so on.
