Today's riddle: What do you get when you cross an angry cow with an angry sheep? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Stone Branch arts center welcomes first residency artist (nvdaily.com) — Stone Branch Center for the Arts on East Main Street in Front Royal is launching its first artist residency with Virginia painter Linda L. Anderson, featuring a Friday evening reception and a Sunday artist talk. Throughout September, locals can drop in to watch her work, ask questions, and explore her nature-inspired paintings and sculptural artist books connected to her Book of Eve Legacy Project.
2. Mayor to proclaim Sept. 25 Dollars for Dolly Day (nvdaily.com) — Front Royal's mayor plans to proclaim September 25 as Dollars for Dolly Day, encouraging residents to donate $5 to any nonprofit that matters to them. In the same work session, council advanced major infrastructure financing, bridge and paving contracts, handbook updates, and set timelines for the next town budget and a zoning administrator code change, all of which could affect local services and streets.
3. Town Council's Data Center Dialogue Plays Out Against September 11 Backdrop (royalexaminer.com) — Front Royal's Town Council is still wrestling with how, or whether, to allow data centers in town, reviewing a new legal draft that would largely exclude them except for existing low-impact operations. Because members need more time to study the proposal, a vote will likely slip past September 28 and extend the current application moratorium, giving residents extra time to follow and weigh in on the debate.
4. Commemoratives around the region remembering 25 years since 9/11 (theriver953.com) — Front Royal residents are invited to a solemn 9/11 commemoration at the town gazebo starting at 8:30 a.m. on September 11, alongside ceremonies across the Shenandoah Valley. From stair climbs to veterans' events, communities regionwide will honor first responders and lives lost, with organizers urging people to check local listings for additional observances.
