• Henrico plans $4.5M in safety upgrades on Staples Mill Road (wtvr.com) — Glen Allen residents could see safer walking and biking along Staples Mill Road, with a $4.5 million Henrico project adding sidewalks, curb ramps, crosswalks, and lighting near Glen Allen High School and the library. Officials are seeking federal funding, and VDOT will hold a public hearing Oct. 1 at Glen Allen Library on a related I-64 improvement project.
• Tribes Say Chesapeake Bay Program Is 'Unwilling' To Give Them Seat At Table (rapptimes.news) — Glen Allen briefly takes the spotlight as the site of a 2024 Sovereign Nations of Virginia conference, where tribal leaders like Rappahannock Chief Anne Richardson have pushed for a stronger voice in Chesapeake Bay cleanup decisions. Now, Virginia's federally recognized tribes are walking away from talks with the Chesapeake Bay Program, saying the partnership won't grant them true decision-making power despite their restoration work and sovereignty.
• 13 PGA Tour cards still up for grabs with two Korn Ferry Tour events remaining (usatoday.com) — Glen Allen will host the Korn Ferry Tour Finals next week at The Federal Club, where golfers will battle for the last remaining PGA Tour cards. With only 60 players advancing from this week's event in Oklahoma, the Glen Allen tournament will decide who reaches golf's biggest stage.
