HYBLA VALLEY, VA — An adult woman died after she was struck by a pickup truck while crossing a road in Hybla Valley on Thursday evening, according to Fairfax County police.
Officers responded around 7:45 p.m. July 2 to the intersection of Richmond Highway (Route 1) and Dart Drive for a report of a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle, Fairfax County police said.
Detectives with the FCPD's Crash Reconstruction Unit said their preliminary investigation found that the driver of a 2026 Ford F-250 was turning right from Dart Drive onto northbound Richmond Highway when the truck struck an adult woman who was using a mobility device while crossing Dart Drive from the north side to the south side.
The woman was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died. Her identity has not been released while authorities notify her next of kin.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured and remained at the scene, police said. Detectives said alcohol and speed do not appear to have been factors in the crash.
The Crash Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
